Tomorrow is Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

Sep 24, 2010 by Lisa Newton

In case you didn’t find enough free things to do in this morning’s Free Friday edition, tomorrow is the Smithsonian’s Magazine Museum Day.

It’s an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Magazine, a monthly magazine that highlights the arts, history, sciences, and popular culture.

For one day, participating museums across the country open their doors for free to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket.

Basically, it’s a day you’re able to go to go to any participating museum you’d love to explore, and go for it.

First however, there are a few things you’ll need to know:

  • The Museum Day Ticket provides free admission to one person, plus a guest.
  • One ticket per household
  • A ticket will gain entry into only one museum and it’s good for participating museums
  • Only an official Museum Day ticket is eligible for free entry.

In Los Angeles the Museums that are hosting the free Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day include the following Museums:

The Museum of Contemporary Art

Museum of Neon Art

The Grammy Museum

Autry National Center

Chinese American Museum

Craft and Folk Art Museum

FIDM Museum & Galleries

Hammer Museum

Pasadena Museum of California Art

Museum of Latin American Art

Santa Monica Museum of Art

Skirball Cultural Center

Don’t forget, you need to get a ticket before you go, so click the link to get yours.
