Sit Back Saturday

Let's Ride

Because Travelin’ Local has been undergoing a major reconfiguration, we hope that you enjoy the new design. There are still quite a few kinks to work out, including the front slider.

With this new format we’ll continually be adding additional pages and categories for popular lifestyle issues, topics, and content that’s popular here in the Southland, i.e., style, music, fashion, design, etc.

We hope that you—our readers–love it as much as we do. As time progresses, our content, categories, areas of coverage, and writers are also expanding! Who says progress is a bad thing?

So, if you’re reading this post in your RSS feed or email, why don’t you click back to the site and take a gander. We’d love to hear what you think, or any suggestions you have to make. Be that as it may, we were busy little bees doing the back end work, so although a little late, here’s today’s Sit Back Saturday:

  • From the LA Creek Freak, the LA River is having a few problems with mudsnails. These “hard-to-kill” snails are causing some problems, The trouble with mudsnails.

  • Don’t forget to mark your calendars for April 9th. That’s the day of the first annual LA Streetsblog fundraiser mixer party for food, drinks, and to mix and meet with some great people. It takes place Friday at 6pm, at the Los Angeles Eco Village, 117 Bimini Place, L.A. CA 90004.
  • If you’ve done any hiking during Southern California’s wildflower season, and took pictures during your sojourn, perhaps you’ll be interested in winning $250 from the Orange County Register. For the complete scoop, check out Modern Hiker, who is also showing off his wildflower photo collection.
  • Speaking of hiking, if you’re in the area of Yosemite National Park in the near future, you might want to try hiking the High Sierra Loop. From the photos and map, it looks like a great trail that includes some great waterfalls to enjoy.
  • I love the photo Will took of his bike, “8Ball” with the Urban Lights exhibit outside of LACMA.
  • Hopefully it’s not too late for the annual coloring of the Easter eggs. From the Crunchy Domestic Goddess, dying the eggs can be a “green” experience, How to dye Easter eggs naturally – a tutorial.

With all that, Travelin’ Local’s staff wishes all a wonderful Sunday, and don’t eat too much Easter Candy. For our Jewish friends, keep that matzah coming.
