Sit Back Saturday

It’s that time again for another Travelin’ Local edition of Sit Back Saturday. We enjoy doing the heavy lifting to provide our readers some of the previous week’s unique stories from the web, delivered to you straight-up, (Not shaken or stirred.) so you can leisurely read and enjoy them:

  • 383 days of agony: And it’s finally over. If you’re one of the many unemployed people out there, this is a story of hope. If you’re not one of those people, be grateful, and keep working hard, as GT, the author of this story, will attest to.

  • Why StreetSummit was just the 2nd most inspiring thing I saw this weekend: Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year’s LA StreetSummit, but bikinginla, has a great recap along with some thoughts about Sunday’s LA Marathon–kudos, for the wonderful pictures.

  • Wildflower Hotline: You still have plenty of time to see the local wildflowers in all of their colorful glory. Updated weekly, the Wildflower Hotline lets you know what’s blooming and what’s not.

  • The Story of Bottled Water: I found this link via LA Creek Freak, which is a great environmental site. If you’d like to know more about the bottled water conundrum and story, take a few minutes and watch this video.

  • Conquered the trails at the Devil’s Punchbowl: If you’re planning a hike this weekend, the Devil’s Punchbowl , in Pear Blossom, is a great place. Ebie hiked it a few weeks ago and snapped some breathlessly beautiful photos to accompany her jaunt.

  • The LA Marathon in 1 minute: An online friend of mine, Will Campbell, who blogs over at [sic], captured and created a fantastic time lapse video of the LA Marathon, from atop his Silverlake home:

We’re not sure what story, or where it may take place on any given weekend; but you can be sure–and take it to the bank–that the entire staff here at Travelin’ Local will continue to cover and diligently bring you the best content and news, that our inimitable Southland has to offer.

Over the next couple months, Travelin’ Local’s got a lot of “rabbits in the hat” we’re going to pull out; as we’re going through our much anticipated and exciting growing pains.

So sit back, tune in, and to coin the well known corporate phrase, (by the now unnamed company)—Just Do It!

Till next week!
