Sit Back Saturday

May 28, 2010 by Lisa Newton

Well, it’s that time again, for coffee, tea, or orange juice.  Sit back and take a look at the various happenings, ramblings, and just plain fun going on in Los Angeles this past week:

  • Have you been to the beach lately?  Yesterday was Kids Ocean Day, with messages written in the sand.  What did they say?  Here’s the story: L.A. Kids Create Eco-messages in the Sand

  • What is the Water Bond issue and how does it effect you? LA Creek Freak has all the details.

  • Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, parts of the Angeles National Forest will be reopening.  So, get ready to hike, LA!!

  • Mosaics are part of the public art culture here in Los Angeles, and the First Bank in Beverly Hills is a great example.  If you’d like to learn a little about its past, here’s the article for you.

  • Dog Surfing?  I didn’t know it was so popular, but the guy over at Californiality did.   He has the scoop on the Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition, plus a video.

  • Griffith Park is known for its views of the city, and a few days ago, LA Frog captured a wonderful day and evening view.

  • Have you shared a week’s worth of food photos?  Doña Junta over at The Swapmeet Chronicles, shares photos and other miscellaneous observances this week.  It’s is interesting to see.

Okay, that’s it for this week’s edition of Sit Back Saturday.  I kept it kind of short because I know many people have plans this weekend and not too much time to sit back.
