Sit Back Saturday

Apr 10, 2010 by Lisa Newton

Each week, I’m amazed at the wide range of topics, thoughts, and ideas covered by other LA bloggers, websites, and business, to share with you for this edition of Sit Back Saturday. It’s a reflection of the great city in which we live in.

What can I say, I love living in and enjoying all the great things to do in LA. So grab your coffee, recline in your favorite chair (or if you’ve got your laptop, relax in bed), and sit back and enjoy these stories, if but for a few moments:

  • Making way for the new Expo Line II rail station, the Sears at 4th and Broadway in Santa Monica, is going to face the wrecking ball. Curbed LA has the whole story.
  • Remember the LA Marathon? LA Runner was just that, a runner in the LA Marathon. He captured it both in pictures and video from start to finish.
  • History, Los Angeles County gives us insight into the mosaics at the downtown Federal Building on Los Angeles Street. As noted by Kim of Esotouric Tours, you’ll discover that this mosaic was also the scene of a fatal anti-Vietnam war protest.
  • Are you into knitting? Well, so is Ellen over at L.A. is my Beat. A few days ago, she featured a story and pictures of her latest project, a “mini-me,” which includes a cool headband.
  • We know Santa Monica has some great sunsets, but what about Manhattan Beach? L.A. Kompany can show you.
  • If you’ve already completed the Census, your individual thoughts about it may vary. On the other hand, thinking about its magnitude for the entirety of the state is another. Californiality takes an interesting look at CA’s ethnicities.

Travelin’ Local’s wishes everyone a great weekend and if you haven’t had a chance check out the events we listed in yesterday’s Los Angeles Free Friday, check it out.
