LA Weather Forecast: Rainy Days and Monday

If the weather pundits are correct, today we pass the half way point in our recent torrent of rain showers. Since Friday, we’re already had three days of rain, but three more are still on the horizon this week.

Personally, I don’t mind the rain. It’s great for going to sleep to, but I have to admit, I didn’t enjoy driving on the 405 yesterday. The huge swaths of water sloshing on the freeway made my car drive a bit scary.

If you look at the slider picture above, you’re looking at the radar from the National Weather Service Enhanced Radar Image of the deluge coming our way for the rest of this week. I took this screenshot yesterday about 6:00pm.

And so far, the rain probably caused the Gold Line’s crawl, the closing of the 71 freeway in Pomona, at least 355 accidents, homes being flooded, and an avalanche warning. What’s next?

To get an idea of how much rain we’ve had so far, here’s a screenshot that was taken at 7:44 am this morning from the Los Angeles Department of Public Works.  This is updated in real time, so you can follow along as time progresses.

And just think, it’s not over yet. So, let’s just kick back and relax as the storm passes through our fair city.
