Enjoy some cool Jazz for the Holidays

Nov 29, 2010 by Lisa Newton

If you’re anywhere near 7th and Figueroa Streets during the next three Tuesdays, be sure to stop by the Ernest & Young Plaza to listen to some jazz.

"Jazz for the Holidays", is a lunchtime music series featuring well-known Jazz artists from across the nation. Its host will be LeRoy Downs, “The Jazzcat” of KJAZZ 88.1 FM.

For the next three weeks, on every Tuesday from 12:00-2:00pm, an opening act and a headliner, will comprise the entire series. And to keep the holiday spirit alive, each show will highlight a non-profit organization that’s dedicated to serving the people of downtown Los Angeles.

Here’s the concert schedule, along with a preview

November 30th: Quartetto Fantastico

Opening Act: Nick Mancini Trio

December 7th: Helen Sung

Opening Act: Gary Fukushima Trio

December 14th: Alfredo Rodriguez

Opening Act: Thelonious Monk Institute/LACHSA Ensemble

[Disclaimer] The above video was taken during a recent visit of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz during their visit to China where Dee Dee Bridgewater accompanied them on their tour. She will not be at the “Jazz for the Holidays” event.
