Jun 30, 2010 by Lisa Newton

As the number and frequency of Los Angeles’ Free Concerts are announced, Travelin’ Local’s is proud to post and include them in our Free Concert and Movie Summertime Calendar at the bottom of our homepage.

We know that you’ve been waiting to find out what’s what, where it’s at, what’s being shown, and who’s hosting it. The Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park, located at the northwest corner of the park near the intersection of West 6th Street and S. Park View Street, will be celebrating its opening night on Wednesday, July 7th at 5:00p.m.

For the Levitt Pavilion at MacArthur Park, it all starts with the Harmony Project, a nationally recognized award-winning youth orchestra performing a tribute to The Beatles. The Levitt Pavilion at MacArthur Park is also showcasing El Salvador’s rich culture by featuring, Grupo Algodon, who’ll present a musical blend of tropical Caribbean, Cumbia, and Meringue.

To close out the multicultural performances, the legendary Latin percussionist, Pete Escovedo, a major force across Latin music genres since the late 1960s, will give a performance of Latin jazz and salsa, to rock and Latin pop.

July 7th is the opening of the season, and it continues until September 12th, wherein more than 50 concerts will be presented during that time–from Thursdays to Sundays. All concerts on Thursday through Sunday evenings begin at 7:30 pm unless otherwise stated. There will also be an ongoing Childrens Shows on each Sunday beginning at 3:30 pm.

As always, I’ve added the Levitt Pavilion Mac Arthur Park Concert Series to the already jammed packed Los Angeles 2010 Summer Concert and Movie Calendar:

So, mark your calendars, as MacArthur Park is sure to be an another totally cool place to enjoy our 2010 Summertime concerts this summer.
